Generations of Ocean Stewardship

Guerrero Negro, oyster farm.

Baja Shellfish Farms is a family-owned dream brought to life by oceanologist Sergio Guevara. Driven by a passion for sustainable aquaculture, Sergio embarked on a pioneering mission: cultivating high-quality shellfish in the pristine waters of the cold California Current, off the coast of Baja Mexico.

In 1991, we became pioneers of Mediterranean Mussel farming in the oceanic waters of northern Baja California. Our dedication to environmentally responsible practices quickly earned us a reputation for exceptional, sustainable shellfish.

Premier Oyster Farming

In 2007, we expanded our offerings to include oyster farming, introducing the Kumiai Oyster, which has become our signature brand. Since then, we've continued to innovate, satisfying the ever-expanding palate of shellfish lovers from coast to coast!

Ten years later we introduced an even more premium lineup, producing aggressively wave tumbled oysters with the Pai Pai & El Chingón
