Clam Harvesting
-
You are looking at the Baja Venus Clams harvest site, they are grown at the bottom in the Upper Gulf Biosphere Reserve, a pristine and federally protected area with minimal human activity.

Baja Venus Clams® are a wild clam species found in the pristine waters of the Alto Golfo Biosphere Reserve, a federally protected area in the Sea of Cortez. These clams thrive naturally in this environment, benefiting from the clean, nutrient-rich waters and minimal human activity.
The clams are hand-harvested without the use of dredges to ensure sustainability and minimal environmental impact. By collecting the clams by hand, we preserve the delicate marine ecosystem and avoid disrupting the natural habitat. This method also ensures that the clams are harvested at their peak quality.

The clams are harvested by hand without the use of dredges, which minimizes environmental impact and preserves the delicate ecosystem of the Upper Gulf Biosphere Reserve. Hand-harvesting involves carefully collecting the clams from their growing areas, ensuring they are at their peak quality.
This gentle method helps maintain the integrity of the clams’ beautiful and elongated shells, making them perfect for various culinary dishes.

To support sustainable practices, we allow clams to regenerate in their natural habitat. By monitoring the clam populations and ensuring that enough clams remain to reproduce, we maintain a healthy and sustainable clam population. Our farm works closely with state and federal authorities to ensure compliance with water quality laws and regulations, further protecting the environment and the long-term viability of Baja Venus Clams®.
This careful and sustainable approach to clam harvesting results in clams that are not only delicious but also responsibly sourced, preserving the environment for future generations.
